Why we built this
Many small businesses run on manual calculations, spreadsheets, or calculators that hand back a number with no explanation. That leaves owners guessing whether the number is good, bad, or even correctly calculated. ROPA pairs every calculation with a plain-language explanation, the underlying formula, and a worked example — so you leave understanding your business better, not just holding a number.
How our calculations work
Every calculator on ROPA uses standard, transparent business formulas — the same ones taught in accounting and small-business finance courses. Each tool page shows the exact formula used and a worked example so you can verify the math yourself. Calculations run entirely in your browser; your figures are never sent to a server unless you choose to save them to an account.
Who ROPA is for
Retail shop owners, freelancers, online sellers, startup founders and service businesses — anywhere in the world. ROPA started in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and supports multiple currencies including TZS, USD, EUR, GBP and more, so it's useful whether you're pricing a product in Dodoma or invoicing a client in Toronto.
What ROPA is not
ROPA is not a replacement for an accountant, tax advisor or full accounting platform like QuickBooks or Xero. Think of it as the simple utility layer you reach for before your business needs — or can justify — that level of software.
